For those of you who are looking to book a fishing vacation or a nature getaway, King Salmon, Alaska, has a lot to offer. While you will be able to find beautiful places to take pictures in the surrounding area, few are better than the Valley of 10000 Smokes. Alaska’s Gold Creek Lodge is the best place to call home base while on your nature viewing excursions. Here are some locations to find on your Valley of 10000 Smokes adventure.

Katmai Pass / Southwest Trident Lava Flows

Katmai Pass is one of the lowest points in the Aleutian Range in Katmai. The area is buried by ash and pumice, but there is still much to discover here. If you are coming from the south part of the pass, you can snap some photos of the lava flows from southwest Trident. There are also fantastic views of the Katmai River gorge and Valley.

Mount Griggs

This one is hard to miss because it is the tallest mountain boarding the Valley of 10,000 Smokes. Mount Griggs is more than 7500 feet in elevation. However, this can be a tricky place to transverse. It does offer some of the best photo opportunities in the region.

Mageik Lakes

Two beautiful lakes are nearby that are ideal for photo opportunities. One of the biggest reasons is the cascading falls surrounding the lakes. Don’t miss taking pictures on the shores of Mount Mageik and Mount Martin.
