We know that you’ll be staying at Alaska’s Gold Creek Lodge for all of the fantastic fishing opportunities the area offers. However, you will want to find a way to recharge and relax for a moment. You don’t want to overdo it while here and possibly ruin an excellent fishing adventure. One of the best ways to kick back for a moment is at an Alaska dive bar. Here are two great bars near King Salmon, Alaska, to have a cold one and meet some friendly folks.

Eddie’s Fireplace Inn

Location: 1 Main St., King Salmon

Eddie’s Fireplace Inn is a quintessential Alaska dive bar. The bar has a plentiful supply of beers and food as well. The food is typical greasy spoon meals, but you won’t leave Eddie’s Fireplace Inn with an empty stomach. Given the name, yes, there is a cozy fireplace too. Oddly enough, there is an expansive collection of DVDs and VHS tapes to rent. Odd and exciting art can be found all over the place, giving the site a sense of history.

Sockeye Saloon

Location: APH, Mile 15, King Salmon

Compared to Eddie’s Fireplace Inn, the Sockeye Saloon has a more modern feel to it. It’s a newer Alaska bar so that you will get less of the lived-in charm, but that doesn’t mean it is a dive bar to miss. There is an excellent selection of food from meat lasagna, roast chicken, soup, loaded potatoes, and fried brussels sprouts. Don’t skip on the desserts either. Order the strawberry shortcake if you can. In between drinks, try roping in a few patrons or your friends for a game of shuffleboard.

Unwind and Relax before You Head Back Out Fishing

Check out both of these bars if you have a chance. They are essential drinking establishments. You are bound to meet some new friends, trade fishing stories, and eat some great food.
